We agree that it’s difficult to out-do a classic, but this Croissant French Toast recipe is one worth waking up for! Using all of your textbook french toast ingredients, you’ll find the only main difference is the base, Kneaders Butter Croissants. In just 25 minutes, you can have a decadent breakfast of warm, flaky croissants ready to be drizzled in syrup, topped with fruit and enjoyed by the whole family!
Tip: For best results, use dry croissants. Be sure to purchase them a few days in advance from your local Kneaders bakery.
Ingredients:
- 4 Croissants
- 4 large Eggs
- 1 cup Milk (we suggest whole milk, but any milk will work)
- 1 Tablespoon Sugar
- 2 teaspoons Pure Vanilla Extract
- ¼ teaspoon Salt
- Butter, or for greasing the pan
- Fresh fruit of choice, and maple syrup
Instructions:
-
Slice open croissants lengthwise
-
In a large bowl, whisk the eggs until frothy. Add milk, sugar, vanilla, and salt and whisk until combined.
-
Pour the custard into a 9×13 baking dish.
-
Add the croissant halves in a single layer and let them soak in the mixture for one minute. Gently turn the croissants to soak the other side.
-
Heat a large nonstick pan to low-medium heat.
-
One croissant at a time, remove it from the mixture, letting excess drip off. Cook the croissants on both sides until golden brown, it should take 3 to 4 minutes per side.
-
Serve warm with fresh fruit of choice and / or maple syrup.
