Homemade Vanilla Extract

Vanilla extract is used in all things sweet, from cakes and cookies to sauce and cider. You’ve probably baked with imitation vanilla, but it’s time to take it to the next level with a homemade extract using real vanilla beans!

We know a thing or two about delicious desserts, and trust us, you’ll never go back to store-bought extract once you’ve tried cookies or buttercream with real vanilla. 🍪

🥃 You can use any 40% ABV spirit, but we recommend vodka, rum, or bourbon. Vodka is neutral and will result in a pure vanilla flavor, rum will make it slightly sweet, and bourbon lends a smoky taste. Use an inexpensive bottle – the real flavor comes from the vanilla beans.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz. glass bottle

  • Choice of Vodka, Rum, or Bourbon

Directions

  1. Fill bottle with desired spirit
