Stuffed French Toast

We’re something of French Toast experts, and this twist on the traditional recipe adds a perfectly sweet flavor. While we used strawberries, feel free to substitute bananas, blueberries, or your favorite fruit. 🍓

Ingredients

  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup half and half or whole milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg

  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. fresh lemon zest

  • Butter or bacon fat

Directions

  1. Gently combine strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice
  2. Beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and lemon zest together until smooth
  3. Slice Sourdough, leaving two slices slightly joined at the bottom for easy stuffing
  4. Spread cream cheese mixture on each inside piece of bread
  5. Put one layer of strawberries inside bread slices
  6. In a separate shallow bowl, mix eggs, half & half, cinnamon, nutmeg, and brown sugar
  7. Melt 2 Tbsp. of butter in a large skillet over medium heat
  8. Dip each Sourdough “sandwich” in egg mixture and place on the hot skillet
  9. Cook each side for 2-3 min or until golden brown
  10. Enjoy with Kneaders Caramel Syrup, whipped cream, fresh fruit, or powdered sugar
